The band
Jazz Mistake was founded in 2003. We perform not just in clubs all over the Czech Republic but also at various jazz festivals (e.g. Jazz na konci léta in Český Krumlov, Jazz Na ulici in Pilsen, Jazz fest Brno) and abroad (Berlin, Budapešť, Regensburg).
In 2007, we released the debut album Kocour v kuchyni (Tom Cat in the Kitchen), which was accepted favourably by both critics and fans, and in February 2008 we undertook the Czech Republic tour.
Our style is entirely original, as we play almost exclusively our own compositions. We often incorporate odd rhytmic patterns, unusual harmonic progressions and distinctive melodic phrasing, as it is common in contemporary jazz and fusion, with emphasis on sponaneous improvisation.
Alongside with concert performing, which we consider prior, we occassionally appear at various social events, such as corporate parties, banquets and vernissages. If you are interested in our offer, do not hesitate to contact us.

The members
Vašek Greif — altsax
- Sax, piano and drums player and composer, born 1983. Performed in many regional bands, he worked as a répétiteur in the Pilsen theatre, studied The Jaroslav Jezek Music Academy in Prague. He cooperates with many respected jazz artists, plays the piano in his flamenco band and is interested in playing the traditional Cuban drums "bata". More on his website www.vasik.net
Honza Dolejš — electric guitar
- Both electric and acoustic guitar player and composer, born 1976. Studied classical guitar, plays different music styles, teaches English at the university, involved also in fine art painting.
Franta Nedvěd — piano
- Piano player and composer, born 1984. Studied classical piano, then studied composiotion at The Jaroslav Jezek Music Academy in Prague. He also performed with many regional jazz bands. Besides music, he is ineterested in photography, meteorology and climatology.
Ivan Habernal - bass guitar
- Bass and piano player and composer, born 1983. Studied classical piano and played it in different bands, then started playing the bass, was one of the Jazz Mistake founders. He has performed in many bands in the Czech republic and abroad. Nowadays he studies bass guitar at the Jaroslav Jezek Jazz College in Prague, plays in Music Theatre Karlín and cooperates with many bands. See his myspace page.
